## The Rule

**An internal agent identifier appearing in an attribution parenthetical is
replaced by the operator role.**

When a verification record is derived, any internal agent identifier in an
attribution parenthetical (who fetched or filed a cited artifact) is
replaced, in the published record, with the role form "the WoC operator".
The publisher applies this rule at derivation time, before signing.

## What the record discloses

A record whose bytes were normalized under this rule carries a disclosure
stating:

1. the exact field path that was normalized;
2. the attribution law id and version applied (this document: v1);
3. that the stored artifact retains the original value, unmodified;
4. how a relying party obtains it — under engagement terms, on request.

## The limit, stated plainly

This normalization is **auditable on request — it is NOT publicly
re-derivable**, because the input (the stored artifact's original
attribution text) is not published. Nothing in this document or in any
record's disclosure implies that a reviewer can reproduce the transform
from public bytes alone. Relying parties verify the normalization by
obtaining the original under engagement terms and comparing it against the
disclosed field path.

## Why the rule itself is public and the identifier list is not

This document publishes the RULE, not the identifier map. Publishing the map
would re-leak exactly what the rule removes; the rule is auditable without
it. The publisher enforces the boundary mechanically: any record that still
carries an unnormalized internal identifier is refused before signing.
