# LAW-LOCATION-ERRATUM-1 — v1 (PUBLISHED)

This erratum corrects the published location reference for the four v2
documents. LAW-IMMUTABLE-1 established that published law bytes are never
changed. This erratum does not change any published law byte — it states the
resolution rule for when a record cites a law id that carries multiple
published versions, and it records the four v2 headers that named an
erroneous location.

## The Rule

### 1. Resolution by id@version

When a record cites a law by identifier and version (e.g.,
CANONICALIZATION-LAW-1@v2), the resolution is exact: the law at the path and
sha256 recorded in the published-laws manifest for that id@version
combination. There is no fallback, no "current version" default from an
@version citation.

### 2. Resolution by id alone (no version)

When a record cites a law by identifier without a version, the resolution is
to the version in force at the citing record's issued_at time, as recorded
in the published-laws manifest's effective-date entries. The resolution is
NEVER to "current" — "current" would reinterpret history; a record's
law citations resolve to the law that was in force when the record was
issued, and a later law version does not retroactively apply.

A record that cites a law id that has no version in force at its issued_at
carries a citation error. The citation error is disclosed; the record is not
re-issued.

### 3. The /raw/laws route

Every published law version is available at `/raw/laws/<id>@<version>` as
extension-less HTML. The page renders the exact law bytes with the sha256 of
the bytes and a link back to the published law page. The raw view is the
immutable citation surface; the `/laws/*.md` paths are the display surface.

## Erratum: the Four v2 Documents

The following four documents carry an erroneous header line that defers the
file's sha256 to an external receipt instead of recording it in the header.
The sha256 of each document IS recorded in the published-laws manifest. The
error is in the header text — the document bytes themselves are NOT changed
(the error is disclosed, not cured silently).

**Applicability:** These four documents are in force for records issued after
the one-ballot one-push publish (2026-09-21T15:21Z). A citation to any of
these ids without a version resolves to v2 at that record's issued_at until
the manifest's effective dates record a successor version.

## Limit

This erratum does not change any published law byte, does not publish a new
law version, and does not retroactively apply any law version to any record.
It resolves citations only; it grades nothing, authorizes nothing, and binds
no relying party. It covers exactly the four v2 documents named in the table
above and the resolution rules stated in The Rule. If this document and the
published-laws manifest disagree, the manifest bytes are the truth.

## Relationship to Existing Laws

This erratum does not supersede LAW-IMMUTABLE-1. It ADDS to it: the raw
view is an additional surface for each published law version. The /laws/*.md
paths, the manifest, and the SHA256SUMS are unchanged.

This law describes the behavior of the published-laws manifest. The manifest
is the authority; this document is the explanation. The manifest's
effective-date entries determine which version a version-less citation
resolves to. If this document and the manifest disagree, the manifest bytes
are the truth.
